Palak moong dal khichdi is a healthy option for breakfast / lunch and dinner. Its a one pot meal with the healthy combination of palak, moong dal and rice topped with cashew and other spices. It tastes yummy with minimal usage of spices. Do give it a try and share your opinion in comment box. Ingredients Required

  • Jeera / Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  • Grated Ginger - 1 Tsp
  • Green chillies - 2 to 3
  • Black pepper powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Salt - As per the taste
  • Palak Puree - 1 Cup
  • Water - 6 Cups
  • Washed Moong Dal / Split green Gram - 1 Cup
  • Washed Rice - 1 Cup
  • Jaggery - 1 Tsp
  • Cashew Nuts - 2 Tsp
  • Curry Leaves - 1 Tsp
  • Oil / Ghee - 1 Tbsp

Method of Preparation

  • To a Cooker, add Oil, once it is hot add jeera, grated ginger, green chillies, curry leaves. Fry them and now add palak puree, fry them and cook it for 3 to 4 minutes until raw smell of palak disappears. 
  • Add Washed moong dal and rice, fry them for 3 to 5 minutes. Now add black pepper powder.
  • Add water, Salt and jaggery mix them well. 
  • Close the lid , get 4 whistels.
  • Once the steam goes out, open the lid and smash it well. Delicious, healthy , nutritious and easy to digest palak khichidi is ready to serve.
  • Serve it with ghee or curd with papad.

Tips

  • To prepare Palak Puree
    • To a Bowl add Water, boil it, add washed and cleaned palak to it, cook it for 3 to 5 minutes, switch off the flame.
    • Once it cools down grind it in a mixer jar to fine paste. This can be refrigerated for 1 week.
    • Remaining water can be sieved and kept in a airtight box and used as per the requirement. Refrigerate it for future use.
  • Ghee can be used instead of Oil, it enhances the taste. But do not use butter.
  • Instead of moong dal mixed dal also can be used.
  • Quantity of dal can be increased. Ratio can be 1/2 cup rice and 1 cup moon dal, 1:2 ratio. But its completely optional. Do not increase the ratio of rice, it doesn't taste good.

  • ಜೀರಿಗೆ - ೧ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ತುರಿದ ಶುಂಠಿ - ೧ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ಹಸಿ ಮೆಣಸು - ೨ ರಿಂದ ೩
  • ಕಾಳು ಮೆಣಸಿನ ಪುಡಿ - ೧/೨ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ಉಪ್ಪು - ಸ್ವಾದನುಸಾರ 
  • ಪಾಲಕ್ ರಸ / ಪ್ಯೂರೆ - ೧ ಕಪ್ 
  • ನೀರು - ೬ ಕಪ್ 
  • ತೊಳೆದಿರುವ ಹೆಸರು ಬೇಳೆ - ೧ ಕಪ್ 
  • ತೊಳೆದಿರುವ ಅಕ್ಕಿ - ೧ ಕಪ್ 
  • ಬೆಲ್ಲ - ೧ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ಗೋಡಂಬಿ / ಗೇರು ಬೀಜ - ೨ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ಕರಿಬೇವು / ಬೇಸೊಪ್ಪು - ೧ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ಎಣ್ಣೆ / ತುಪ್ಪ - ೧ ಟೇಬಲ್ ಚಮಚ 

ಮಾಡುವ ವಿಧಾನ 

  • ಒಂದು ಕುಕ್ಕರ್ ಗೆ ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಹಾಕಿ, ಅದು ಬಿಸಿಯಾದಂತೆ ಜೀರಿಗೆ, ಕರಿಬೇವು, ತುರಿದಿರುವ ಶುಂಠಿ, ಗೋಡಂಬಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಹುರಿದು ಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾಲಕ್ ರಸ ಹಾಕಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ೩ ರಿಂದ ೫ ನಿಮಿಷ ಹುರಿದು, ಬೇಯಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.  
  • ಇನ್ನು ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಳೆದಿರುವಂತಹ ಹೆಸರು ಬೇಳೆ  ಮತ್ತು ಅಕ್ಕಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ೩ ರಿಂದ ೫ ನಿಮಿಷ ಹುರಿಯಬೇಕು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಳು  ಮೆಣಸಿನ ಪುಡಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರು ಹಾಕಿ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಬೆರೆಸ ಬೇಕು. ನಂತರ ಉಪ್ಪು ಹಾಗೆ ಬೆಲ್ಲ ಹಾಕಿ ಬೆರೆಸಬೇಕು. 
  • ಕುಕ್ಕರ್ ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ೪ ವಿಸ್ಲೆ ಬರಿಸಬೇಕು. ಕುಕ್ಕರ್ ತಣಿದ ಮೇಲೆ, ಮುಚ್ಚಳ ತೆರೆದು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಬೆರೆಸಬೇಕು. 
  • ಈಗ ರುಚಿಕರ ಹಾಗೆ ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕರವಾದ ಪಾಲಕ್ ಖಾರ ಹುಗ್ಗಿ ತಯಾರಾಗಿದೆ. 
  • ಇದನ್ನು ತುಪ್ಪ ಅಥವಾ ಮೊಸರಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೆ ಸೆಂಡಿಗೆ ಹಪ್ಪಳದೊಂದಿದೆ ಸವಿದರೆ ತುಂಬ ರುಚಿಯಾಗಿರುತದೆ.
