 Banana Flower Chutney | ಬಾಳೆಹೂವಿನ ಚಟ್ನಿ । ಪೂಂಬೆ ಚಟ್ನಿ 




Ingredients Required

  • Banana Flower - 1
  • Tamarind Water - 4 tsp
  • Jaggery - 4 tbsp
  • salt - As per the taste
  • Grated Coconut - 2 Tsp
  • Bengal gram - 2 tsp
  • Redchillies - 4 to 5
  • Oil - 4 Tsp
  • Curry Leaves - 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Water - As per the requirement

Method of preparation

  • Remove the outer cover of banana flower until the surface color is white.
  • Now cut them to small pieces.
  • To a pan add water, now switch on the flame, add chopped banana flower, add tamarind water.
  • Now allow it to cook for atleast 15 to 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes switch off the flame, allow it to cool down.
  • In another pan, add oil, add bengal gram and redchillies, fry them until bengal gram changes its color.
  • Now to a mixer jar add cooked banana flower, roasted mixture,grated coconut, salt and jaggery
  • Grind them to fine paste by adding water as needed.
  • In another pan add oil, once oil is hot add mustard seeds, add curry leaves, now add grinded mixture and boil it.
  • Delicious and healthy banana chutney is ready to serve.
  • Serve it with hot rice and ghee.

Tips

  • Use coconut oil to get the perfect traditional taste.
  • Jaggery can be reduced as per the taste.
  • This chutney can be stored  in fridge for atleast 1 month.
