Hayagreeva Maddi Sweet is made with bengal gram dal. It is famous sweet of South India. Specially in udupi and dakshina Kannada people serve this recipe as  nivedyam for god vishnu and god narashimha. This sweet is very special for god vishnu and god narashimha. Bengal gram is shreshta for guru graham. Guru graham consists lord vishnu and lord narashimha, so whichever sweet you make from bengal gram it is shreshta for these two gods. Even for lord Shiva this nivedyam is shreshta. Some people will add cloves and grated coconut to it. it is optional. try this recipe.

Ingredients required :

  • Bengal gram dal ( Soak for 1 hour in water )  - 1 cup
  • Jaggery - 1 cup
  • Cashew - 2 tsp
  • Raisin ( Dry grapes ) - 1 tsp
  • Ghee - 3 tsp
  • Cardamom - 1/4 tsp
  • Water - As per the requirement

Method of Preparation :

  • Soak the Bengal gram dal in water for 1 hour.
  • After 1 hour cook it in cooker pressure with 4 cup of water, make 5 whistle.
  • After whistle drain off the water from dal and smash it with spoon.
  • Meanwhile take a pan add 1 tsp of ghee, once ghee is heated add cashew and raisin.
  • Fry it  for a minute and keep it side.
  • Now take another pan add jaggery and 1/4 cup of water to it.
  • Now switch on the gas. Once jaggery melts add smashed bengal gram dal, cardamom and fried dry fruits and mix well.
  • In this stage add ghee to it mix well for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Now your hayagreevea maddi or haygreeva sweet is ready.

ಬೇಕಾಗುವ ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳು :

  • ಕಡ್ಲೆಬೇಳೆ - ೧ ಕಪ್ 
  • ಬೆಲ್ಲ - ೧ ಕಪ್ 
  • ಗೋಡಂಬಿ - ೨ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿ - ೧ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ತುಪ್ಪ - ೩ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ಏಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿ - ೧/೪ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ 
  • ನೀರು - ಬೇಕಾದಷ್ಟು 

ಮಾಡುವ ವಿಧಾನ :

  • ಕಡ್ಲೆಬೇಳೆಯನ್ನು ೧ ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನೀರಲ್ಲಿ ನೆನೆ ಹಾಕಬೇಕು. 
  • ೧ ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ನಂತರ ಅದನ್ನು ೪ ಕಪ್ ನೀರಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕುಕ್ಕರ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಯಿಸಲು ಇಡಬೇಕು. ೫ ವಿಶಿಲ್ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು. 
  • ವಿಶಿಲ್ ಹೋದನಂತರ ಅದನ್ನು ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಬೇರ್ಪಡಿಸಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸ್ಮಾಷ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. 
  • ಈಗ ಒಂದು ಪಾನ್ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ೧ ಟೀ ಚಮಚ ತುಪ್ಪ ಹಾಕಿ ಗೋಡಂಬಿ ಮತ್ತು ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನು ಹುರಿದು ಸೈಡ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. 
  • ನಂತರ ಒಂದು ಬಾಣಲೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ೧/೪ ಗ್ಲಾಸ್ ನೀರು ಹಾಕಿ ಗ್ಯಾಸ್ ಆನ್ ಮಾಡಿ. 
  • ಬೆಲ್ಲ ಕರಗಿದ ನಂತರ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಯಿಸಿದ ಕಡ್ಲೆಬೇಳೆ, ಏಲಕ್ಕಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹುರಿದ ಗೋಡಂಬಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಿಕ್ಸ್ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ . 
  • ತದನಂತರ ತುಪ್ಪ ಹಾಕಿ ೧ ರಿಂದ ೨ ನಿಮಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಮಿಕ್ಸ್ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಹಯಗ್ರೀವ ಮಡ್ಡಿ ಅಥವಾ ಹಯಗ್ರೀವ ಸ್ವೀಟ್ ತಯಾರಾಗಿದೆ.

It is a combination of  pumpkin, coconut and some spieces. try this recipe at home.  Ingredients Required : Pumpkin - 1 small sized Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp Salt - as per the taste Oil - 1 tsp Red chili - 2 Urad dal - 1 tsp Bengal gram - 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp Coriander seeds - 2 tsp Tamarind - as per the taste or small half lemon sized Grated coconut - 5 tbsp Jaggery - half small lemon sized  Coriander leaves - 3 to 4 tsp Water - as per the requirement  Method of Preparation : Initially cut the pumpkin into small pieces. This recipe is very great for lord Ganesha.   Ingredients Required : Jaggery - 3/4 cup Water - 3 tbsp Ghee - 1 tbsp Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup Yelachi - 1/4 tsp Avalakki / Poha (Thin) - 3 cup Method of Preperation : Initially take a tava, add jaggery to it and also add water. Boil till the jaggery dissolves.  Once jaggery is dissolved, add ghee, yelachi and grated coconut. Mix them well. Now add avalakki/ poha and mix them well.
